The Bohemian composer Vanhal is generally regarded as the first freelance

musician to make a sufficient living exclusively from the sale of his works and fromteaching. He wrote numerous piano and chamber music pieces as well as more than 100 symphonies. These '24 Duettini'; published in 1809 and dedicated to Princess Charlotte of Wales; are quite intriguing both musically and technically.
