Written as a response to the events of September 11; 2001; “American Anthem” utilizes the principal motives that are heard in “The Star-Spangled Banner”; which is to the composer the most patriotic song and the true American anthem. This piece also celebrates the life of the composer's father-in-law and mentor David Leon Adams; a great musician and World War II veteran; who died during the completion of this work.
