The English composer Cyril Scott (1879-1970) studied piano and composition at the Frankfurt Conservatoire. In 1898 he returned to Liverpool to work as a composer and teacher. He composed for every musical genre from opera and symphonies to chamber music; but always took a special interest in writing easy teaching material for children and young people. The collection The Toy Box; which was written in 1932 for the seventh birthday of his son Desmond; is reprinted for the first time in this new Schott edition.
