The White Rose by : Philip Sparke
The White Rose was commissioned by the White Rose Concert Band from Harrogate; England. The band takes its name from the county symbol of Yorkshire; the white rose. This partly rhythmic; partly lyrical piece opens with a flourish from the trumpets. Following a rhythmic melody in the clarinets are solo passages for flute and trumpet leading to the finale; which brings together elements of the whole piece.
